Weekend Randomness: Errands, Rest, and Gideon's Baptism

After our long, fun day in OKC yesterday and a night filled with watching the weather for possible tornadoes, we rested for much of the morning. Finally got up and busy and ran out to Atwood's for some supplies.

Looking for some new rabbit feeders.

Always fun to have uncle rides and popcorn while shopping.

Lots of interesting items available at Atwood's.

Deep conversations with Uncle Riley.

The kids love seeing all of the live animals available at Atwood's.

Best store ever: free popcorn.

Taking a swing while waiting for Rod to finish paying.

Uncles and Atwood's: life is good.

After our Atwood's trip, we came home to relax in preparation for the evening's activities as well as to recover from allergies/colds.

Toby had fun looking out of the open window
during our rest time.

Gideon chose to be baptized tonight and
show everyone that he is a follower of Christ.

Rod was able to baptize him and waited with Gideon
and the others being baptized for the baptisms to begin.

and Host Team Pastor.

Celebrating Gideon going public with his faith.

While Gideon and Rod changed into dry clothes,
Zoe and I waited. She was so moved at seeing
her brother do what she'd done two years ago
that she wanted to write it down.

She also made Gideon a picture of what he'd just done.

 Excited about the world-changer this
boy is and will be for Jesus.

Love this place that encourages all of our
individual relationships and journeys with God.
Helping us to continually become fully devoted
followers of Christ. It's a huge church, but it feels like home.
We are a micro-church with a mega-vision.

Unfortunately, we had a mix up on the start time for church
tonight and Rod's family missed seeing Gideon get baptized.
It was so sweet to come out after the experience, though, and
have our Host Team Pastor, Jess, tell us that Rod's "whole clan"
was here. They even left Gideon notes and hearts in the dirt on our
van to find when we left church. Super hard to read, but it says
"MomMom and PopPop were here". It means so much to us
that they came to support Gideon.

Gideon received a special kid's NLT
study Bible from the church to celebrate
his decision to get baptized.

We had a little celebration when we got home
to commemorate this moment in Gideon's life.

Our little disciple.

The story for Zoe and Gideon in Toon Town
tonight was from Esther so we started reading
the book of Esther tonight using Gideon's new Bible.
We'll spread it out and finish up by the end of the week.

The kids enjoyed coloring while they listened to Rod read
Esther. They learned what a eunuch was and what the word
banished means. Also enjoyed seeing the timeline in the Bible
showing where Esther's story is located in time and history leading
up to the birth of Christ.

We finished off the evening listening to Zoe play the ukulele
and make up a song with Gideon.
