Week of Learning: February 10th-13th

Our verse and point for the week:

We also started a new reading plan on our YouVersion Bible app: I Can Be A Friend.

Zoe and Gideon started off with their Handwriting pages.

Toby made a Lego spaceship for his Uncle Boo.

While Gideon and Zoe were doing their individual learning activities, Tobyn played some XBOX with his Chickie Bok Bok.

Zoe learned about the library system, made a new Scratch project, practiced identifying benchmark angles, and read a chapter from "A Little Princess".

Gideon identified nouns for English, learned about finding area in Math, practiced his ukulele, and chose to read "Stuck".

Tobyn did two lessons on ABCMouse.com and earned enough tickets to purchase the puffer fish he'd been wanting.

For afternoon learning, we ate lunch and watched MythBusters for Science.

We finished up our learning activities with another chapter from "The Wizard of Oz", our second lesson in Spanish: Basics 2, and read about the library of Nineveh for History.

Toby had fun playing with play-doh while we read our History.

Before our activities for the day, we read and watched a video for our "I Can Be A Friend" reading plan.

One of our first activities of the day was hanging out at the birthing center for a midwife appointment. The kids had fun getting some tablet time.

Toby had fun playing the toys at the birthing center.

When we arrived home, we finished up our individual learning activities.

Zoe learned about the telephone directory in her English book, practiced writing out and doing flashcards for her Spelling words, read "There's a Princess in Me", wrote out a poem for Handwriting, and did more practice on divisibility for Math.

Gideon did more practice with reading pictographs for Math, traced and did flashcards for his Spelling words, wrote the letters 'h' and 'b' for Handwriting, identified nouns for English, and read "The Incredible Book Eating Boy" for Individual Reading.

Tobyn learned about different kinds of weather at ABCMouse.com.

The kids enjoyed some free play with the rest of our afternoon time.
Tobyn had fun playing Minecraft.

Zoe had fun playing with her Barbie dolls and making fashion designs.

Gideon had fun playing Halo.

We spent the evening running errands and playing Ingress.
At home, Zoe had fun making a Valentine for a friend of hers.

Toby went crazy coloring some My Little Pony pages.

Rod and Gideon worked on making their own screen protectors for Rod's phone and Gideon's replacement tablet.

Success! Much less expensive than any we've bought before....like we have enough to keep our screens covered for the foreseeable future for about $3.

We finished off the day with some popcorn, gummy bears, and Winter Olympics.

We started the day off with our Bible reading and piecing together our memory verse. The kids also completed their Challenge Cards to be ready for church tonight.

For individual activities, Gideon learned what a 'verb' is and played a game to practice identifying them, learned about negative numbers on the number line, read "Curious George at the Zoo" by himself, and sorted his spelling words into alphabetical order.

Toby had fun painting with his watercolor paints while Zoe and Gideon did their individual learning activities.

Zoe learned about taking a message correctly, practiced subtracting 4-digit numbers,  sorted her spelling words into alphabetical order, and read "Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!" to Tobyn.

Tobyn's ABCMouse.com lesson for the day was reviewing letters A-H.

After a morning of focused learning, the kids were ready for a Minecraft break.

We enjoyed a nice lunch and then got busy with our group learning activities. We read the next chapter in "The Wizard of Oz", identified parts of the skeleton for Science, did the third lesson for Spanish: Basics 2, and read about Nebuchadnezzar's madness in History.

The kids enjoyed a fun surprise after they'd finished their household responsibilities. They opened a package from their Papa and Pinki that they received in the mail. Fun Valentine cards, candy, and spending money.

Zoe and Gideon were excited to spend the evening at church. They had a special red & pink theme night to  go along with Valentine's Day. No pressure from parents on them to go: they love being at church.

Toby practiced recognizing the color blue for his ABCMouse.com lesson.

Gideon made a new Scratch project, did a Mastery Challenge for Math, practiced writing words with the letter 'f' in them, identified correct spelling of his spelling words, took a Spelling test, practiced his ukulele, and read about how lungs work for Individual Reading.

Zoe identified the correct spelling of her spelling words, took her Spelling test, practiced her handwriting, read a Fancy Nancy book, did a chapter review for English, made a new Scratch project, and did a Mastery Challenge for Math.

The kids had some fun free time before we did our group learning activities.

For group reading, we read more about the kingdom of Babylon, did our last lesson for Spanish: Basics 2, and read the next chapter in "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".

So happy for the last planned learning (i.e. school) day of the week. We've decided to make Fridays a cleaning, rest, reading, and game day since we fill up the other days so much. Excited to enjoy a relaxing night together and looking forward to a gorgeous weather weekend.
