Oh the joys of home educating year round. We had a nice two week break that went a little longer than planned due to sickness. But, I decided today was the day to bring it all back and make an attempt to start. Something I have learned, don't wait for perfect conditions to start something. And, boy, did this day not go perfectly.
After a late night in the ER with my youngest, I started the morning off with a surprising amount of energy. Popped a head of purple cabbage in the pot to boil so we could do our pH test science experiment later in the day.
Like any good list-maker, I made a list of all we would attempt today.
I was overly optimistic.
After some group reading, the kids did their workbooks for the day. Just a little Math, Reading, and Handwriting. No big deal. But, not everyone was excited. Can you guess who?
T-man was super excited to start doing his Math via Khan Academy. He kept doing the next lesson and the next lesson and the next lesson until I finally said he needed to stop so G could do his Math.
Z-girl got into her groove with a little Mandala coloring.
My creative girl and her free-hand artwork.
After lunch and individual reading time, I was beginning to give up on getting everything done that I'd wanted to. I just didn't have it in me to push it all out. So, Z started work on a story she's writing.
T loved watching G build spaceships on Space Engineers.
And aside from a learning video about guitar making they watched with their Dad, this was the extent of our day. We didn't do most of the things on my list, but I'm pleased that we did any of it. Tomorrow is a new day. Here's to a Mom with energy to face it.
