First Day of Fall Learning 2014

We started our morning off by going over our new daily routine (schedule) and household responsibilities. Gideon remarked that it sounded like these tasks would be fun and not feel like work. Here's hoping he continues to think so positively.

The kids filled out their Fall 2014 Favorites questionnaire and we talked about the things they want to learn about for this season. We're spending Fall doing math workpages, continuing to read their 100 books for a trip to Incredible Pizza, working on learning a musical instrument and language of choice, and cultivating a love of learning by doing unit studies based on the things they're interested in learning.

After Z & G did their morning learning and Tobyn did his ABCmouse lesson, they worked on their Lego entries for the State Fair.

Rebel was mostly content today to play with her toys when not being held. Good first day of learning with a baby in the mix.

After lunch, they will have free play time to work more on their interest led learning/projects, play games, build, and play outside. Since it was rainy today, they played their own pretend world for a while then played games together.

We had a successful chore time even with a semi-fussy Rebbie J. I've assigned us all individual jobs, 1-2 per day aside from meal helping, as well as chores that we'll work on all together. We had one hour scheduled to complete them and I was concerned it might not be enough time. However, we did great! I think knowing what's expected and planned helps with staying focused and keeping a positive attitude. Afterward, the kids were happy for an hour of well earned screen time.

Zoe was tonight's dinner helper. We made fried potatoes and mini hotdogs with corn.

After dinner, we headed to one of our favorite parks to enjoy a walk in the cooler weather. Zoe taught her neighbor friend all about our family game: Ingress.

We could not pass up nighttime swings.
