Colorado Field Trip Fall 2012

Took a fun trip to Denver, Colorado to see my sister and her family. Lots of fun seeing them and falling in love with Colorado.

Day One {Wednesday, Nov. 7th}:
Exploring Denver and an amazing park in Centennial.

Finished off the day with dinner at Five Guys.

Day Two {Thursday, Nov. 8th}:
Book work/free play day

Started off learning their Uncle Buddy's fun learning game,
Were You Listening? They watch a documentary and then
are asked questions. When they get five correct,
they get a small treat.

Fruit break before starting some book work.

Gideon working on his math.

Zoe's set up.

After working hard, we took the kids to another
amazing park to run off excess energy.

Day Three {Friday, Nov. 9th}:
We took a little road trip to nearby Colorado Springs
and explored Garden of the Gods.

The kids enjoyed the welcome center and seeing the
different droppings certain animals leave behind.

Toby thought the snake was pretty cool.

Out on the viewing deck, looking across the road
at the huge red rocks.

The best natural playground ever: lots and lots of climbing.

We then journeyed a little bit farther to the quaint town of
Manitou Springs for lunch at PJ's Bistro.
Delicious German influenced food.

After lunch we set off to explore the town.

We finished our exploring with the best
frozen custard we have ever tasted.

Day Four {Saturday, Nov. 10th}:
We enjoyed another semi-relaxing day including
lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and
exploration of the mall nearby.

Zoe was overjoyed at her first visit to an
American Girl store.

Day Five {Sunday, Nov. 11th}:
It had snowed overnight so as soon as the kids were awake,
we bundled them up and they had a blast playing in it.

They came inside from their snow excursion and Zoe
helped her aunt make homemade hot cocoa.

Day Six {Monday, Nov. 12th}:
For our last adventure in Colorado,
we headed west to Red Rocks.

The kids enjoyed the various items in the museum.

Lots of climbing and beautiful views rounded out
our visit to Red Rocks.

One of the five deer we were close to on our
hike down to the trading post at Red Rocks.

Gideon rocked the hike like a boss.

After Red Rocks, we were treated to
sushi at the Sushi Den in Denver
by our generous hosts.

Zoe and Gideon weren't any more in love with sushi
their second time to try it.

To finish off their trip, Zoe and Gideon each recorded
an interview detailing their thoughts about the trip.
