Upon arriving in Italy, we placed our story disk on the map.
After finding our wheat, we watched a video on how to make flour.
At the end of our long journey, we finally had our bag of flour to add to our basket of ingredients.
We enjoyed taking a virtual scenic tour of Italy.
Our next day found us looking through the illustrations of the book and appreciating the humor of the art.
Zoe chose this picture as her favorite.
Gideon chose this picture for his favorite.
Today we made two ingredient stops. Our first stop was in France for some elegant chicken eggs. We had fun remembering the French architecture and language we had learned about while reading "Madeline".
Then we journeyed to Sri Lanka for the kurundu plant to grind into cinnamon for our ingredient basket.
They enjoyed smelling cinnamon sticks and then grinding them to make ground cinnamon.
We added our chicken and cinnamon to our ingredients basket.
Then we took a virtual tour of Sri Lanka.
Next we journeyed to England to find a cow for our next ingredient: milk.
After adding the milk to our basket, we practiced some subtraction with a fun game of Hi-Ho Cherry-O.
We then hopped on a banana boat headed to Jamaica. We grabbed a jar of salt water from the ocean and watched a video about evaporation.
Upon arriving in Jamaica, we headed to a sugar cane plantation and took a tour.
We had fun looking at the map and reviewing the places we've been to and noticing the distance between each. Our last destination brought us home to the United States and Vermont. We picked some apples and made an apple pie together.
